White Heart by William Gould
As a practicing gardener and artist I am interested in ideas of order and entropy. I follow the naturalistic design movement practiced by designers such as Nigel Dunnett and Piet Oudolf, creating habitats and allowing plants to grow together, self seed and mature. I also take inspiration from Japanese gardens which while intensively controlled, also have a naturalistic concept. My studio work consists of sculpture and painting which uses materials and themes from the natural world and juxtaposes them with urban and technological development, in an effort to bring together positions which are often in opposition.
