I’m an artist-printmaker and I draw and print by hand. All of my sugarlift etchings so far have been inspired by – and pay homage to - my local woodland walks. I love the light, the timelessness and stillness of the woods and I also love the whole etching process, from painting directly onto the metal plate, dipping it in and out of the acid, seeing different parts of it being nibbled away, inking and painstakingly wiping the plate for every print, turning the wooden spokes of the antique press, and finally peeling back the dampened paper to see the velvety blacks of the finished
