Ash Tree Obligate 9: Prays fraxinella
Created by, Alessandra Alexandroff
I am currently making work around the devastation being caused to British woodlands from ash dieback - the pathogen hymenoschyphus fraxineus. These prints are my record of moths which are obligate to ash trees, without which they will become extinct. These secret lives will not be missed by the majority of humans but they will leave little holes in their eco systems with results we cannot yet know or quantify. I have carved out these intaglio prints from boards, and like the insects, am excavating a fibrous material to created passageways for inky images.
