Sian Martin
Jemila's Forest
Created by, Sian Martin
Siân Martin is a member of the 62 Group of Textile Artists and the Textile Study Group. She has her studio in Somerset but exhibits and teaches mixed media textiles internationally. Siân uses textile processes with a variety of non-textile materials such as locally grown willow, often using the natural environment to age and discolour materials. The uncertainty of the stability of the layers and irregularity of each surface points to the serendipity of the artistic journey. As well as the natural beauty of the landscape, her work makes connections with ideas of conservation and climate change.
