Meadow with wild flowers, Durlston, Isle of Purbeck
Created by, Paul Jefferis
I use photography to look for alternative perspectives on landscapes in my local area (Purbeck, Dorset) using techniques such close-up photography, sometimes using a flash gun for additional illumination,. I aim to find small, mysterious dramas amongst the shapes and colours of the plants and sky. I usually work at sunset or in twilight where the balance of natural and artificial light can be combined to best effect. The experience of looking for such images, often very close the ground, provides an absorbing way of relating to the landscape, where there is always something new and unexpected around the corner.
