Need to stock up on Wonder Woman Pants
Created by, Helen Cook
Drawn with my finger using a simple drawing App on my mobile phone, this image was created whilst bedbound at home after a stay in Hospital. During this 6 month period, I drew hundreds and hundreds of these finger doodles on my phone...from Imagination. I then developed the idea of my imaginary drawings in imaginary Art galleries. Like most of the images I would draw around 4am, trying to eleviate pain, insomnia, overcome seizures, functional strokes, migraines and get my head around that I couldn't walk. I had become a single parent and was trying to keep my shop POP! on Cheap Street open, all from my Bed!
One sleepless night at 4am, I entered a few pieces in the Black Swan Open. This one was chosen.
My past physical and mental trauma has began to melt and clarity is now developing. From imaginary finger doodles in bed to the reality of the piece hung in a real art gallery, representing total dissociation to total clarity. This is just the first of hundreds that I want to turn into reality... don't forget to sniff the Cola cans and relax on the chair.
Living with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, Functional Neurological Brain Disorder and CPTSD has been challenging.
This is my Art Therapy and is helping me overcome hurdles to find clarity, reality and happiness again.
I'll be wearing Wonder Woman Pants for the foreseeable future.
