Relic (Back)
Created by, Sandra Porter
Sandra Porter RWA is inspired by architecture – from the cupolas of St Basil’s Cathedral in Red Square, to the marble stripes of Siena Cathedral and, most recently, humble, derelict corrugated iron ‘bothans’ and 'barns'. I like the connection between the words 'relic' and 'derelict' as well as the structures that provide opportunities for drawing.‘It seems to me that I see examples of “my work” all over the place’ she says. ‘I soak up influences wherever I go.’ Her representational prints and drawings develop into the abstract. However, they still acknowledge their architectural origins – telling a story of earlier lives.
