Rosey Prince

These paintings are based on places I know or have passed through, working from photographs and drawings back in my studio, using memory and imagination. I am inspired by the edges or marginal places on the outskirts of cities and towns or hidden between streets and buildings in plain sight but unseen. Although always absent in the work, human presence is always evident whether it’s manmade structures or the remnants, pylons or discarded rubbish. The paintings are an attempt to find a successful balance between the real and the imagined, figuration and abstraction while searching for an honest interpretation of place.
