Dick first painted in the mid-1960s, and started painting seriously about 2012. Living in Dorset since 1970, his work, from contemporary figurative to abstract, often arises from landscape sources. Painting mainly in oils, usually in his studio, drawing and sketching are often used when researching and planning a work. Starting in 2016, several of his works have featured WW2 pillboxes, lookouts, etc on the Dorset coast, and in 2021 he was part of curator Tim Craven's 'Concrete Castles' exhibition at Bodmin Keep, Cornwall. Dick's work has been selected for many significant Open Exhibitions, including the RA Summer Summer Exhibition and the RWA Open. http://www.dickhewitson.co.uk
